EV Batteries
BYD and CATL are the current main manufacturers of EV batteries. They hold more than 55% of the world market.
BYD supplier, Lead Intelligent, is looking to improve from their 400W/Kg battery to a 700 W/Kg one. While Welion university spinoff has been able to deliver a 824 W/kg solid state battery.
Welion expect that their solid battery will improve to 1000W/Kg. Other Chinese SSB battery manufacturer is Chery.
Currently, Lithium-Ion batteries have safety problems therefore, LFP batteries better safety option with 165 W/Kg are the main product.
Additionally, sodium batteries are also a low cost and very safe option but with 155 W/Kg.
Samsung is currently pushing hard with their solid-State battery. Chinese manufacturers are currently working on improving their production lines even further from 5 GWH to 8 GWH.
We mustn't forget to mention manufacturers outside of China. In Dallas, Texas advanced battery producer, Solidiun, has made a silicon and graphene battery which has increased capacity by 45% meaning we can presume the capacity has gone up to approximately 250W/Kg.
USA 24m LiForever batteries approximately go to 250 W/Kg and by 2030 they expect to go up to 400W/Kg.
